Long before Edward brooded his way into Bella's heart in Twilight, Carlisle Cullen was the unlikely foundation of Twilight's most fascinating immortal family. Born in 17th-century London to a fanatical vampire-hunter father, young Carlisle was ironically turned by one of the very creatures he sought to destroy. But instead of becoming a monster, Carlisle fought his instincts with unwavering discipline. After centuries of refinement, he became a compassionate doctor who swore off human blood entirely. His "vegetarian" vampire lifestyle set the tone for the Cullen clan. He would even accept Bella Swan with open arms after his "son," Edward, would soon fall head over heels for this human. It is time to break ground with the LEGO Twilight – The Cullen House set, which comes in at 15" long, 9" tall, and 8" deep, when fully built.

As expected, Carlisle Cullen is the new Twilight LEGO minifigure to arrive, and a worthy addition to this set, as he is the start of the Cullen vampire house. More than just a father figure, Carlisle was a moral compass and protector. He used his eternity not for indulgence but for healing both medically and spiritually, including building a family of like-minded vampires who shared his belief in coexistence and restraint. Under Carlisle's guidance, the Cullens adopted human traditions, like going to high school (repeatedly) to stay hidden in town and learning ongoing trends. As we start to fill the Cullen House, there are plenty of Easter Eggs, like a picture featuring the Loch Ness Monster. This is a reference to Edward and Bella's future child, Renesmee, nicknamed Nessie.

The grand piano is also added to this bottom floor, along with a nice, elegant glass-filled design, while also showing the surrounding forest. Building the bookshelves was fun, and the intricate layout was nice to see come to life. With the addition of Carlisle, our little LEGO Twilight family gets a little bigger, with a few more vampires arriving in the coming sets. So far, this LEGO Ideas set has been a real nostalgia treat, and the minifigures are nice to see stepping into the daylight after all this time, even if they sparkle. Up next on our Cullen House build, we are introducing not one but two more members of the Cullen vampire house and starting work on the second floor. Stay tuned for more coverage, and be sure to snag up the set for yourself right now on LEGO.
